 | John W. Powell is a native of Memphis, TN who obtained his B.F.A. at Memphis State University. From there he progressed to machine and welding technology after studying architectural modeling and production in Huntsville, Al and industrial design at the American School in Milan Italy. He returned to Memphis and worked for Dyna Steel Corporation with designers of steel conveyor systems, Holiday Corporation in hotel renovation and construction and Lewellen Manufacturing supervising fabrication of air cargo equipment before founding his own company, Icon Atelier, Inc which specializes in fine art sculpture and custom furniture.
Some of John's accomplishments include: The "Elvis Table" at the High Museum, "Wall Art and other pieces at the Holiday Inn Hotel in San Francisco, Ca, "Burning Bush" Bronze sculpture at the Solomon Schechter Day School, Memphis, TN, The "Wind Rose" and "compass Rose" bronze sculptures in the Adams Estate in Leechville, AR and the "Heroes Park Memorial" in stainless steel and cast stone at the Heroes Park in Memphis, TN. |
